The white wine »SZ« Iphofen Kalb Chardonnay trocken, vintage 2018 from the winery Zehntkeller Iphofen Hotel & Weingut has been rated in 2023 by Ulrich Sautter with 91+ Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Chardonnay from the region Franconia in Germany.
On the nose, discreet aromas of smoke, some vanilla, plus almonds and apple peel, savoury herbs, nicely developed. On the palate, a fine texture, subtle phenolics, lots of savoury herbs, gripping, notes of quince, mineral, good structure and length, perfect with tarragon chicken.
More about the tastingPale yellow in colour. Buttery, lime blossom, with ripe varietal aromas. Full-bodied on the palate, relatively broad, still somewhat yeasty in the back aromas, tendency to texture, but without becoming overly creamy.
