A powerful combination: the magnificent Schlössl as a backdrop, outstanding cuisine, and a wine list that is expanded every year to include rare wines—not just from the restaurant’s own cellar. Any criticism? Yes—we’d love to have this magical trio available even more days!

Dürnstein 107, 3601 Dürnstein, Austria

Dining at a table in the garden under the tall trees is a real treat, or you can enjoy a meal in the dining rooms with their wooden beams and tiled stoves. Special delicacies like fennel salami made from free-range pork or ceviche made from Styrian mountain salmon are a delight. Good, mineral-rich wines.

Greith 21, 8442 Kitzeck in Sausal, Austria
Weingut Pluschkovits

A good loaf of bread, a glass of sparkling water—that’s often all it takes to sweeten the day. Carina and Edith embody hospitality with palpable passion and a clear commitment to quality. This runs like a common thread through the entire dining experience.

Schulgasse 11, 2443 Leithaprodersdorf, Austria

Lisi and Karl Alphart run the tavern with great passion. Salted almonds and cheese are available at the buffet, while the rest of the (ever-changing) menu is served at the table. This leaves more time to explore the extensive wine selection. Tip: There are also aged bottles to discover!

Wiener Straße 46, 2514 Traiskirchen, Austria

The terrace alone is extraordinary; from high above, you can look out over the steep vineyards. The “Brüstl” made according to Grandma Resi’s recipe and the homemade pastries from owner Heidi are highlights. Their own wines are also absolutely outstanding.

Glanzer Kellerstraße 34, 8463 Leutschach, Austria

The Steinberghof in Ehrenhausen moved to Gamlitz and reopened as “Casa Firmenich.” It’s very stylish and cozy. The highlights—such as liver parfait with Traminer jelly or bacon-wrapped plums with salted butter—are still on the menu. Very nice rooms.

Eckberg 37, 8462 Gamlitz, Austria

Slow Food and organic ingredients, local herbs, and fresh vegetables: At her restaurant—with its rustic dining rooms and picturesque courtyard—Johanna Gebeshuber serves cuisine that goes far beyond classic Heurigen fare. In the glass: elegant, refined wines.

Wiener Straße 1, 2352 Gumpoldskirchen, Austria

This quaint house has been beautifully renovated using traditional materials; on the terrace, you can take off your shoes and feel the grass beneath your feet. The snacks are served with a modern twist, featuring vegan elements. They pair perfectly with the biodynamic house wines.

Ratsch an der Weinstraße 59, 8461 Ratsch an der Weinstraße, Austria

The Genussraum at Königsberg has been completely redesigned: modern, yet with that familiar sense of coziness and large panoramic windows. The Buschenschank snacks remain just as they’ve always been—with homemade meat dishes and pastries, prepared with care.

Tieschen 25, 8355 Tieschen, Austria

As soon as you arrive, you’re spoiled for choice: a cozy parlor, a airy sunroom, or a Mediterranean-style terrace? The culinary variety is also vast, ranging from a traditional Hauer snack to creative dishes (like fish burgers) and seasonal specialties (such as wild garlic crostini).

Mitterstockstall 25, 3470 Kirchberg am Wagram, Austria

Nestled among the vineyards lies the idyllic garden of the former wine press house, which has been converted into a unique Heurigen. Here, you can not only enjoy authentic Heurigen snacks and the establishment’s own organic wines, but also admire the sunset.

Zwetschkenzipf 12, 2464 Arbesthal, Austria

Just a few minutes’ walk from Grinzinger Platzl, you can sit in Obermann’s gorgeous garden in the shade of old oleander trees. The wine is organic, and the cold and hot Heurigen buffet has something for everyone. Grilled chicken and duck are available by advance order!

Cobenzlgasse 102, 1190 Vienna, Austria

"Homemade" is taken literally at this family-run business. After all, the snacks come straight from their own smokehouse and from the Angus cattle and organic pigs raised on the farm. Add to that some delicious drinks by the glass and the lovely atmosphere of the historic building.

Hauptstraße 23, 3041 Siegersdorf, Austria

From spring through Advent, the Frühwirths welcome everyone who finds their way to their cozy restaurant in Teesdorf. The menu features classics, seasonal delicacies, and “Tamara’s comfort cuisine based on the 5 elements.” The wine bar invites guests to enjoy a tasting.

Wiener Neustädter Straße 75, 2524 Teesdorf, Austria

The winery has been family-owned for over 305 years. Today, just as in the past, the standards are high: The organic grapes grow in the “open-air workshop” and are gently transformed into wine, which is best enjoyed with local delicacies in the Heurigen garden.

Friedrich-Schiller-Straße 6, 2340 Mödling, Austria

This rustic, cozy wine tavern serves regional, homemade specialties. In addition to the classics, guests can enjoy delicacies such as Styrian Iberico pork, smoked chicken breast, and air-dried Muskateller raw ham. Excellent wines.

Glanz 41, 8463 Leutschach, Austria

Casual modernity and warm coziness go hand in hand; from the terrace, you’re at eye level with the steep vineyards. The plate of marinated raw ham, cheese, and smoked fish tastes outstanding, and the house-baked bread with its crispy crust is the perfect accompaniment.

Glanz an der Weinstraße 50, 8463 Leutschach, Austria

On select days, the farm opens its doors and becomes a place for people to gather. On these occasions, small, comforting dishes are served to be shared with the whole table. These are accompanied by natural wines, which come directly from the vineyards surrounding the house.

Edelsbach 49, 8332 Edelsbach bei Feldbach, Austria

On clear days, you can see all the way to Slovenia. A signature dish is the game platter; the game was hunted by the two owners. A specialty is the delicacy platter featuring sheep’s cheese and prunes wrapped in bacon, as well as pumpkin seed buns.

Eichberg-Trautenburg 94, 8454 Eichberg-Trautenburg, Austria

Excellent cuisine, great wines—all organic. The whites are light, crisp, and dry; the reds are always more elegant than full-bodied. Guided vineyard walks, exclusive cellar tours, and guided tastings. A wonderful tasting room and a large outdoor dining area.

Amtsstraße 10–14, 1210 Vienna, Austria
