Palazzo Fiuggi, Italy
Palazzo Fiuggi is famous for its healing mineral waters. Popes, princesses and painters like Michelangelo have all sought their curative powers. Today all of Fiuggi’s programmes are based on medical evidence, carefully tailored by renowned doctors and experts to every guest’s individual needs. Located just an hour’s drive from Rome, the resort promises results within a week.
Monastero Santa Rosa, Amalfi Coast
Perched on a cliff off the Amalfi Coast, this spa was a Dominican monastery in the 17th century. The once spartan cells have now been transformed into 20 luxurious rooms and suites, some of which come with spacious terraces and enticing sea views. The property surrounding the hotel has four levels of generously laid-out flower beds and herbal plants, relaxing lounge chairs and canopied daybeds. The outdoor infinity pool is large and rather dazzling, great for that rejuvenating early morning swim. It is a paradise with a rich history.
Eden Reserve Hotel & Villas, Lake Garda
Eden Reserve is a sleek boutique hotel and wellness oasis designed by Matteo Thun. Take a map and explore numerous hiking and biking trails, book a massage or facial treatment or take a dip in the ice bath – great for circulation, as is a swim in the spacious outdoor pool with power jets, overlooking Lake Garda. Feast on upscale Italian cuisine and stop for a nightcap at the snug Terrazza Bar and Lounge on your way up to bed.
Capri Palace Jumeirah, Italy
Set on the gorgeous island of Capri, the focus of the treatments at this spa is on the welfare of your legs. Medical director Francesco Canonaco has pioneered a method to ease ailments of the lower limbs. Drainages, power walks in thigh-high hot and cold Kneipp pools, mud wraps and leg yoga all have one goal – to improve, relax and heal your body. There are 68 guest rooms and two restaurants.
Castel Monastero, Siena
Located half an hour’s drive from the Tuscan city of Siena, Castel Monastero is known for its exquisite anti-ageing, detox, and slimming programmes. Surrounded by vineyards, forests and fields that stretch out for miles, this former monastery comes with elegant rooms decorated in a rustic but chic style. There are three outdoor swimming pools, two indoor pools, yoga classes and a women’s only retreat. If you are not looking to lose weight, the restaurant and cellars have plenty of joy to offer, too.
