A New Luxury Icon Elevates Venice

Venedig

2026 is proving to be a landmark year for luxury hotels in Venice. Following a string of high-profile openings and reopenings, the legendary Hotel Danieli is preparing for its grand return on August 26.

For Venice, 2026 is the year of major hotel comebacks. Following the new openings of the Orient Express Venezia and the Airelles Palladio, as well as the reopening of the Hotel Cipriani, A Belmond Hotel, the next highlight is set for August 26. After more than three years of restoration, the legendary Danieli is entering a new era as the Danieli, A Four Seasons Hotel, Venice.

Located right on the lagoon and just a few steps from St. Mark's Square, the former 15th-century Palazzo Dandolo is one of the city's most famous hotels.

A time-honored establishment

Since it was converted into a hotel in 1822, the Danieli has welcomed numerous prominent guests: from Charles Dickens and Charlie Chaplin to Coco Chanel, Madonna, and George Clooney. Its unique location, magnificent architecture, and unmistakable Venetian charm have made the hotel an icon of the international luxury hotel industry for decades.

French star designer Pierre-Yves Rochon was responsible for the elaborate redesign. His concept combines the palace's historic character with contemporary luxury, while deliberately highlighting Venetian craftsmanship. Fabrics from the traditional Rubelli mill, exquisite Murano glass, and fine Carrara marble define the newly designed interiors. The color palette is dominated by soft shades of blue and green, delicate shades of pink, and warm tones of gold and terracotta, which reflect the light of the lagoon.

Following its reopening, the hotel has 120 rooms and suites. An additional 56 housing units are scheduled to be completed by 2027.

Cuisine and Wellness

The dining options have also been redesigned. On the rooftop terrace of the Terrazza Danieli, guests can enjoy aperitifs and dinner while taking in the view of Venice’s rooftops and canals. Executive Chef Adriano Rausa is responsible for the restaurant's culinary concept, while the historic Bar Dandolo remains the elegant destination for classic cocktails and the famous Danieli Martini.

By the end of 2026, the Danieli Spa, an exclusive wellness area, is set to open, rounding out the offerings at this historic luxury hotel.
