British Airways has extended its suspension of ticket sales for all short-haul flights from Heathrow until 8 August.
Holiday makers in Britain can expect more disruption this summer after British Airways extended its freeze on ticket purchases for all short haul flights from the UK's largest airport.
Heathrow, along with Amsterdam's Schiphol airport, has imposed a limit on the number of departing passengers each day during the busy summer period as it struggles to cope with the rebound in passenger numbers.
British Airways says the ticket sales suspension for all domestic and European destinations until 8 August is designed to allow existing customers to rebook flights when needed, media reported.
"As a result of Heathrow's request to limit new bookings, we've decided to take responsible action and limit the available fares on some Heathrow services to help maximise rebooking options for existing customers, given the restrictions imposed on us and the ongoing challenges facing the entire aviation industry," the airline was quoted as saying.
In the middle of July, Heathrow capped the number of departing passengers at 100,000 each day, 4,000 fewer than were scheduled.
