Elizabeth Line opens direct route between Heathrow and London’s business hub

A new train service will offer faster direct services to key London locations.

Direct journey times between Heathrow and London’s key business areas have been cut to just 45 minutes with Crossrail now operating from Europe’s busiest airport to Canary Wharf.

Services from Heathrow will no longer terminate at Paddington Station, the trains now running through new tunnels under central London with three sections of the Elizabeth Line connected.

Flight departure information boards from Heathrow have been installed at Canary Wharf offering travellers real-time details of services from the airport terminals.

Open on Sundays

The train services will operate daily with the new line no longer closed on Sundays as had previously been the case, with Transport for London (TfL) saying trains would be running every three to four minutes, seven days a week.

“The full opening of the Elizabeth Line will mean the UK’s travel hub, Heathrow, and its business hub, Canary Wharf, are directly connected like never before,” said Ross Barker, Heathrow’s Chief Commercial Office.

“It enables all passengers travelling through Heathrow to get to and from Canary Wharf at unprecedented speed, which is a big win for global business and sustainable travel.”
