First 5-star house of Marriott Bonvoy in Berlin

Debut of Marriott‘s luxury brand JW Marriott in the German capital.

The new year brings an addition to the family of luxury hotels in Berlin: JW Marriott Berlin celebrated its debut as the first 5-star house of Marriott Bonvoy in the German capital this week. The hotel is perfectly located for tourists and business travellers alike: right next to the Tiergarten, Berlin's biggest park; Potsdamer Platz, Brandenburg Gate, Sony Center and the embassy quarters – the city's main attractions are just a short walk way.

With 505 rooms, suites and 48 conference and event spaces, the location instantly becomes one of the largest luxury hotels in Berlin, now also featuring the biggest ballroom of the capital: with a capacity for 2,300 guests.

Individuality for guests

Christian Tänzler, spokesperson of the city's marketing agency visitBerlin, welcomes the newest addition to Berlin's luxury hotel market: “JW Marriott is a real gem at a very special location: the Tiergarten is the heart of our beloved city and JW Marriott Berlin forms a perfect unity with its surroundings – its interior design and concept are unique – and that is what Berlin visitors seek: individuality.”

In recent months, travel and tourist numbers are finally recovering after years of uncertainty and struggle for the industry at large. And, current booking statistics indicate the trend that “visitors increasingly chose unique accommodations and individual quality experiences when deciding on Berlin as a travel destination”, said Tänzler. The newest luxury hotel caters to that demand perfectly.

JW Marriott meets the zeitgeist

The concept of the 5-star hotel focuses on sustainability and a mindful lifestyle: enjoying the moment to the fullest and living in harmony with its surroundings – even in the center of Germany's biggest city. And it does work: the interior design was created by El Ghoneimi, with references and inspirations from the neighboring Tiergarten found throughout the hotel, a colour scheme of dark greens and warm browns complemented by light marble.

For their culinary well-being, guests may chose from eight different restaurants, cafés, lounges and bars. The menus feature regional specialities: meat and fish, as well as many vegan and vegetarian options. For head chef Friedemann Heinrich local sourcing, sustainability and fresh, regional ingredients are essential for high quality culinary delights. And they do give “local” a new meaning: fresh herbs are grown right here, at the hotel‘s herb garden.

“The debut of JW Marriott Hotel Berlin is an exciting moment for us”, said Aramis Gianella-Borradori, General Manager of the 5-star hotel, is ready and excited to welcome guests “to this oasis in the heart of Berlin”. And oasis describes the hotel perfectly: a retreat for tranquility, well-being and calm, the real luxury of modern times. Naturally, JW Marriott Hotel Berlin is a pet-friendly hotel.
