First indoor water park in Algarve
The Portuguese region is bidding to increase its appeal to visitors during cooler months with a new attraction in Quarteira.
The Algarve is one of the most popular holiday regions in the south of Europe, but interest in trips to the south of Portugal noticeably wanes in the cooler months. A new attraction for tourists (and of course also for locals) should change that a little: the first and only indoor water park on the Iberian peninsula, Aquashow, is opening on October 20. Located in Quarteira, Aquashow will offer slides, swimming pools, family relaxation pools, Jacuzzis, children's water slides, baby pool and adventure pool, amongst other attractions.
For those who dare, one of the slides is the ‘Tornado’, a 26-metre high tower where the descent is made with a buoy, leading down to a cone with a diameter of 16 metres creating a sensation of free fall. There is also an exclusive spa area for people over 13 years old, which includes a relaxation pool with Jacuzzis, water jets, a sauna, a Turkish bath, a thermal bath, an ice well and fountain, and two massage rooms.
Prices for visitors 13 years or older start from €65 for one-day admission, and there is also an Aquashow hotel located a few metres from the park, with 148 rooms, open all year.
