The new "White Lotus" hotel for the fourth season has been chosen: this elegant château on the Côte d'Azur will serve as the dazzling backdrop for the popular HBO series.

It has been clear since the end of last year that director Mike White has chosen France as the setting for the fourth season of "The White Lotus", as Falstaff TRAVEL reported. The hotel has now also been chosen: this time, an illustrious castle above Saint-Tropez is the setting for scandals, intrigues and affairs.

19th century castle becomes main filming location

For a long time there was speculation as to whether filming would take place at the Four Seasons Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat - following the long-standing marketing partnership between film producer HBO and the luxury hotel chain. The film magazine Variety has announced that the Château de La Messardière on the Côte d'Azur will be the dazzling setting for the fourth season.

Where once aristocrats resided, international high society now stays. The 19th century estate is located in the hills of Saint-Tropez, surrounded by the vineyards of Ramatuelle. In 2019, the Château joined the Airelles Collection, underwent extensive renovations and reopened in July 2021. Today it has palace status and combines historical charm with modern elegance in Saint-Tropez.

The five-star retreat boasts a luxurious spa landscape, a private beach, top restaurants and a wide range of sporting activities - perfect conditions for the exciting and highly aesthetic scenes for which "The White Lotus" is known. And so the cameras will be rolling from the end of April into the fall - in line with the sunny high season on the Riviera.

But Saint-Tropez is not the only setting. As in the previous seasons, the series once again relies on changing locations to tell its stories. In addition to other spots along the Côte d'Azur, scenes are also to be shot in a luxury hotel in Paris - perhaps the "Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris"? - will be created . There are even rumors behind closed doors that the Cannes Film Festival could play a role - although nothing has been officially confirmed. In general, HBO is keeping quiet about the plot. One thing is certain: once again, the focus is on a group of privileged hotel guests and employees whose vacation is anything but relaxed.

After Hawaii, Sicily and Thailand, France now marks the next step for the series - also visually. Mike White has already hinted that the look will change. Less dramatic forces of nature, more urban elegance and sophisticated luxury. In other words, fewer roaring waves and more champagne on terraces with sea views.

Expectations are high - but the backdrop already promises to be one of the most glamorous since the series began.
