Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra on Mallorca

Mallorca is getting a new retreat for connoisseurs and design lovers: The "Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra" in Calvià, not far from the elegant Puerto Portals, will open its doors in spring 2026. Surrounded by Aleppo pines and spectacular coastal scenery, the resort offers sweeping views of the Mediterranean and provides access to fragrant gardens and secluded coves.
The resort has 131 rooms and suites where contemporary design meets the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Mallorca: stone floors typical of the island, neutral tones and carefully selected works of art create an understated , luxurious atmosphere.
The new Mallorcan hideaway is also an exciting culinary address. From the Nikkei cuisine of none other than Nobu Matsuhisa to the modern steakhouse "Leña by Dani García", which celebrates fire, smoke and local traditions, to "Jacinta", which combines Mexican flavors with modern influences, there is a variety of taste experiences.

Frégate Island: biodiversity in the Seychelles

Frégate Island returns to the international stage of the luxury hotel industry in 2026. The privately run island - known for its complete seclusion, spectacular nature and conservation programs - welcomes its guests back to the Indian Ocean after a comprehensive re-launch. Only 18 percent of the 220-hectare island - roughly the size of Monaco - is built on; the rest remains untouched and offers protection to rare species such as the Aldabra giant tortoise and the Magpie Robin bird. Accessible only by helicopter or boat from Mahé, Frégate now boasts 17 newly designed villas and residences, a regenerative spa and a ten-hectare hydroponic farm for growing herbs.

"Vestige Binidufà": an unspoiled retreat on Menorca

On April 30, 2026, "Vestige Binidufà", the new boutique hotel of the luxury hospitality group "Vestige Collection", will open in the quiet north of Menorca. Nestled in a gentle valley, terraces and gardens offer sweeping views over green hills, the characteristic red earth of Menorca and grazing cattle. Eleven rooms and suites visually reflect the softness and warmth of the valley. Natural materials, colors inspired by the surroundings and the dialogue between past and present characterize the rooms. Furniture from the hotel's own design studio "Vestige Estudio", antiques and contemporary art give each room its own personality. In culinary terms, "Binidufà" relies on the vegetarian restaurant "Mesura", which focuses on regional ingredients such as vegetables, herbs and dairy products from neighboring farms. A carefully curated program of experiences provides insights into Menorca's natural and cultural heritage: from walking and cycling trails to craft workshops and culinary traditions. Massages and treatments with organic oils and the scents of local herbs round off the offer. The hotel complements its sister hotel "Son Ermità" on a private 800-hectare estate.

La Réserve Firenze: a refuge in the Renaissance city

"La Réserve" is expanding its portfolio with a new address in Florence, the capital of Tuscany and cradle of the Renaissance. The new retreat will open its doors in June 2026; an authentic palazzo has been transformed into six elegant apartments. Designed by the studio "Gilles & Boissier", the rooms combine historical elements such as ceiling frescoes with contemporary restraint. Clear lines, a calm color palette and high-quality materials dominate. "La Réserve Firenze" sees itself as a discreet, luxurious home - in the heart of this living museum. Located in Via Santo Spirito, guests are within walking distance of the old town, Palazzo Pitti, Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi Gallery.

"Amanvari" combines the nature and culture of Mexico

"Amanvari" is scheduled to open in spring 2026 on the pristine east coast of Baja California in Mexico. The 18 "casitas" (villas) are situated on a hill and offer a view of the glittering sea of Cortéz and the Sierra de la Laguna. Additional residences are located directly on the beach or near the golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones II. Situated in a landscape between beach, desert and estuary, the architects "Heah & Co." and "Elastic Architects" take up the surroundings in the design: materials associated with the earth, local stone and tropical hardwood are complemented by Mexican art and ceramics. The contemporary aesthetic blurs the boundaries between inside and outside, mountain and sky. A "Temazcal" sweat lodge and an outdoor yoga pavilion provide the feel-good factor. There is plenty to do outside the resort: guests have access to local organic farms, a yacht club, as well as snorkeling, diving, hiking and sailing.

"W Sardinia" in Poltu Quatu provides Mediterranean flair

As part of a soft opening, the new hotel welcomed guests for the first time in the 2025 summer season; the full opening is planned for spring 2026. The hotel is located in the coastal village of the same name on the north-east coast of Sardinia between Porto Cervo and Baia Sardinia. Created by the New York design studio "Meyer Davis" and "DE.Tales", the concept is based on the daily rhythm of the island: light, materials and spatial sequences pick up on the movement of the landscape and the sea. Natural tones, organic shapes and local materials define the style of the 154 rooms and suites. Some of them have private pools, while the penthouse has a spacious terrace with a view of the coast. Culinary meeting places include the seafood restaurant "TANIT" directly on the marina, the "W Lounge" and the "WET Deck". The restaurant focuses on modern Sardinian cuisine with a local focus, while the desserts are created under the direction of renowned pastry chef Fabrizio Fiorani. From summer 2026, a spa and the "W Beach Club" will provide wellness. Workshops with artisans, culinary events, guided hikes and boat trips from the hotel's own marina invite guests to get to know the culture and nature of Sardinia.
