Tinazzis invite to discover the roots of wine from Verona

Advertorial

Pure Corvina or Valpolicella Dop? Find out more about Tinazzis variety of red wines!

The Tinazzi family, which has been producing Verona DOC wines for more than 50 years and whose vineyards are located in the most famous areas of the province (Valpolicella, Bardolino and Custoza), has been working for some years to rediscover wines that are less demanding than the famous Amarone della Valpolicella DOP and Valpolicella Ripasso DOP.
The great Veronese red wines, which also include the winery, have the advantage of being lush, structured and absolutely addictive, but on the other hand they must be wisely paired with foods that can fully enhance their sensory qualities. Moreover, their price often makes them suitable only for special occasions and not for everyday consumption.
For these purposes, according to the Tinazzi family, we have at our disposal the Corvina IGP and Valpolicella DOP wines, which are »brothers« because they share the same grape variety, but still have their own particular characteristics.

Corvina

Let's start with the Corvina. Its name comes from the very dark color of the berries (black like the wings of a crow). Corvina is the most important grape variety in the Veronese area and is involved in the production of highly appreciated and successful wines such as Valpolicella, Amarone and Recioto. It is the queen that gives flavor, spice and body to the wines. Just look at the percentages of grapes used to make a classic Valpolicella, and the regulations state that the Corvina percentage can range from a minimum of 40% to as high as 90%.

Corvè

Tinazzi vinifies them in purity and produces the »Corvè«. 100% Corvina Veronese IGP from the historical Ca' De' Rocchi line. The result is a wine with an alcohol content of 13.5% and a deep ruby red color. The bouquet shows an extensive olfactory spectrum with pleasant notes of red fruits, black cherry, blackberry and plum. The taste of Corvè is rich, spicy and mineral with dense tannins that give it a pleasantly soft and long finish. It pairs well with appetizers and first courses, as well as grilled or roasted red meats.

Valpolicella DOP Ca' de' Rocchi is made from 90% Corvina and 10% Rondinella grapes.

The Rondinella gives the wine more freshness, a tannic structure, good acidity and a fine bouquet. The result is a versatile wine with an alcohol content of 13 degrees, suitable for any occasion. It is designed and made to be enjoyed young and suitable for even the most sensitive palates. It ferments at a controlled temperature and ages in steel tanks for about nine months. In the glass ruby red with light violet reflections. Floral and fruity on the nose, spicy and persistent on the palate.  Pairs best with? With grilled white meat, but also with pasta and, why not, with pizza!
