Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Extensive meadows and forests, a multitude of lakes and the sea on the doorstep: in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the entire spectrum of nature can be admired and, accordingly, regional ingredients play a particularly important role in gastronomic terms. Small farm stores, weekly markets, quaint farm cafés and Germany's northernmost wine-growing region, the Stargarder Land, invite visitors to go on a voyage of discovery even away from the popular vacation region around the Müritz. The distances between producers of vegetables, wine or cheese and hunters of fish and game, to the traders, cooks and end consumers are short. Due to its direct location on the Baltic Sea and the more than 2,200 bodies of water that the Mecklenburg Lake District has to offer, visitors to the state can look forward in particular to exceptional fish dishes on their plates - prepared by down-to-earth chefs and fine dining restaurateurs.
