Weingut Hohmann Rügen

Falstaff Wine Guide Germany 2024

If there is a soil in Germany that resembles that of Champagne, then where would it be? In fact, on the island of Rügen! When Mario Hohmann visited the Apel winegrowing family in Nittel on the Moselle a few years ago, the idea for this vineyard on Rügen was born over the course of an evening. The first harvests (since 2019) show that this was not just a schnapps idea. The fungus-resistant Souvignier Gris vines defied the drought in 2020 and mildew in 2021, while the wind and weather were very conducive to the aromas in 2022. More of this please!
