Csongrád

The small region of Csongrád, with its approximately 2,500 hectares, borders the Kiskunság region in southeastern Hungary to the east and is also part of the Hungarian Plain, formerly also commonly known as Pustá. Like its immediate neighbour Kiskunság, the climate is quite warm and dry, with little rainfall. As a result, the wines tend to be quite mild and low in acidity, with some showing some residual sweetness. The soils are mostly sandy. Production is dominated by table wines, which rarely reach beyond the country's borders, which is why it is difficult to make any meaningful statements about the wines.
