Oregon has thoroughly established itself as a top producer for Pinot Noir. The Willamette Valley just south of the capital Portland is the prime spot where 90% of Pinot Noir is grown. The stiff breeze straight from the Pacific is only buffered by gentle hills, preserving a snappy acidity. Oregon Pinot Noirs are more subtle than their Californian counterparts with notes of dried cranberries and enticing earthiness.
