THE BEST COCKTAIL BARS

THE BEST WINE BARS

Host of the year

Volker Seibert, Seiberts, Cologne

Volker Seibert has been behind the bar for over 32 years, and some people still know him from the legendary Capri Lounge. But he created his own monument. Here, in the Liquid Kitchen of his Seibert's Bar, he can do what he does best: serve fabulous drinks made from inimitable ingredients as a consummate host!

Barmaid of the year

Luisa Fritsche, Gin House, Dresden

From breakfast service at the Taschenbergpalais to the international bar Olympus: Luisa Fritsche's rise is breathtaking. At just 26 years old, she is Germany's World Class Bartender of the Year, but proves every day at Dresden's Gin House that creating cocktails is an art that she has mastered to perfection.

Bartender of the year

Lennart Geist, The Door, Karlsruhe

Lennart Geist is a man of conviction. With his bar The Door, he has not only been revitalizing the Karlsruhe cocktail scene for years, but also lives the zero-waste concept. His Sip the City concept follows the premise of not only collecting ingredients for drinks locally and sustainably, but also making them available for months. Sustainable and with the guest in mind.

Most innovative bartender

Benito Opitz & Philipp Schmitz, Mondhügel Bar, Berlin

Innovation also means doing things yourself. The two owners of the Mondhügel Bar take this approach to the extreme: they make everything they need for their drinks themselves. This also applies to spirits, syrups and tonics. If you're looking for truly unique drinks, you've come to the right place. And you only pay as much as you want.

Rookie bartender of the year

Cedric Golze Schlieper, Rosebud Bar, Cologne

Cedric realized very early on that his heart beats for the bar. He has been behind the bar since 2015 and, after several stops, has found his home in Cologne's Rosebud, where he can now give free rein to his creativity as bar manager. With his deep intuition for flavor combinations, he succeeds in delighting his guests every day anew.

Bar team of the year

The Collab Bar, Hamburg

In mid-2023, Chloé März and André Lembcke realized their first own bar project with the Collab Bar – and made it to the top bars in the country in no time at all. Together with their team, they have created a high-end neighborhood bar where the focus is on conscious enjoyment and non-alcoholic drinks are also served as a matter of course.

The best cocktail bars 2025

American Bar

Les Fleurs du Mal, Munich

It is an institution, the minimalist bar, which is somewhat hidden on the first floor of the legendary Schumann's Bar. It not only offers an entertaining view of the illustrious hustle and bustle on the ground floor, but also top-quality classic drinks at an impressive 9-meter-long wooden bar – no frills, pure enjoyment.

Day bar

Schumann's Tagesbar, Munich

Daydrinking? An old hat for Charles Schumann, but one he likes to wear. With his Schumann's Bar, he has made the aperitivo part of Munich's DNA. With his day bar in the Fünf Höfe, however, he has given this lifestyle an additional home. A coffee before work or an aperitif in the afternoon? A matter of course.

Hotel bar

Jahreszeiten Bar, Munich

Elegant wood paneling, a deep counter, velvet armchairs, opulent lamps – the Jahreszeiten Bar welcomes its guests with a dignified ambience. The bar manager is Aleksandar Vujin, a self-confessed fan of single malt, who often adds a twist or two to his classic bar menu – often combined with the finest bar food.

Restaurant bar

Bonvivant, Berlin

The Bonvivant is brutally local. Many of the ingredients used come from the Brandenburg region and can be found in both the dishes and the accompanying cocktails, which are also available in non-alcoholic versions. In keeping with the high standard of the cuisine, the drinks served also offer a unique experience.

New opening of the year

Himitsu, Berlin

Only a red light and a door decorated with mangas indicate this gem hidden in the middle of a food court. Himitsu is Japanese for secret, and it is not only the entrance that is secret here, but also the bar menu of the Japanese-inspired high-end bar until you enter. Anyone who photographs them nevertheless does so at their own risk.

Bar jewel

Barroom, Munich

Munich's smallest bar offers less space than many a living room, but since 2008 it has combined everything cocktail enthusiasts are looking for in a small space. Owner Emanuele Ingusci is a master of personal advice and a beacon of Munich's bar culture. Its selection of rums is worthy of all honors, and the bar menu entices with an astonishing variety.

The best wine locations 2025

New opening wine bar

075, Nuremberg

Difan Xu is an experienced sommelier and the brains behind the wine bar 075, her first own project. Here she welcomes connoisseurs and wine fans in an elegant ambience and focuses on regional wines on the well-curated wine list. There are also small tapas, a changing selection of cheeses and canned sardines.

Classic wine bar

Sticks & Stones, Munich

800 wines in the portfolio is impressive. But it gets even better when a good 680 of them are available by the glass. Star sommelier Justin Leone makes this possible in his wine bar, which will open in mid-2023. The unique depth of overseas wines from the USA and Australia, including numerous old rarities, is also unusual.

Wine bar in a wine shop

Das Weinhaus Trier, Trier

Restaurant, wine bar and vinotheque in one? It works perfectly here! All wines are available at farm-gate prices; the focus is on the Mosel, Saar and Ruwer regions, but other German wines as well as wines from Italy, France and Portugal are not neglected. There are tapas for the small appetite and schnitzel or rump steak for the big one.

Special price Special Selection

Butte, Frankfurt

Why wander far away when good things are so close? The team at the Butte wine bar has made this motto its own and offers wines exclusively from the German wine-growing regions of Nahe, Mosel, Pfalz, Franconia, Rheingau and Rheinhessen. The offer ranges from traditional wineries to young and wild wines and is accompanied by small snacks.

Wine restaurant / bistro

Griabig, Munich

Griabig means very cozy in Bavarian, and that's exactly how wine is presented here: straightforward, accessible and without frills. There are a good 15 wines by the glass and around 90 items on the well-stocked menu. There are also a few types of beer and hearty snacks with local, traditional Bavarian ingredients. Suck it up!

Natural Wine Bar

Baci Baci, Frankfurt

At the end of 2023, Davide Emmanuele created a hotspot for natural wines just a few meters from his wine shop Wein&Raum with the Baci Baci, which leaves nothing to be desired with a good 300 items. The range includes wineries from all over Europe, some of which even supply Emmanuele exclusively. Another highlight: Prosecco is available on tap!
