Two special personalities met at this year's Klagenfurt Festival. Performance artist CRYSTN HUNT AKRON delights crowds with her beats, while barkeeper Daniel C. Schellander always provides the right refreshments. We'll show you what the two have in common.
Every year, the Klagenfurt Festival transforms the city into a new stage for art and culture. From May 22 to June 10, numerous artists will be presenting their works. This year, the focus is on two personalities in particular: performance artist CRYSTN HUNT AKRON and bartender Daniel C. Schellander. What they have in common is their creativity and ability to create new compositions from unusual impulses.
CRYSTN HUNT AKRON is a musician with an unusual source of inspiration: washed up plastic waste from the oceans and the Danube. However, she is not only artistically inspired by the materials she finds, but also actively uses the individual elements as sound generators and creatively combines the sounds with her electronic beats.
At the festival, she will be presenting her project "Plasticphonia", which draws attention to the huge amounts of plastic waste that end up in the water and wash up on the shore every day. In doing so, she discovered something special: the different types of plastic waste produce different sounds and together they can merge into a composition of their own. She recorded the individual scraps using a microphone and then added beats to them, resulting in an impressive piece of music that not only moves her, but also her audience. She considers it a successful performance when people dance around her and are visibly moved by her music.
In contrast to CRYSTN HUNT AKRON, Daniel's mixing desk is located away from the stage in the "Sky Bar Marie". As a bartender, he is mainly inspired by conversations with other artists. This exchange gives him new ideas and opportunities to create special drinks. He has reinterpreted the trend drink of the year for CRYSTN HUNT AKRON: Vanilla syrup meets passion fruit pulp and non-alcoholic gin, topped off with a passion fruit champagne espuma. The result is a non-alcoholic Pornstar Martini - surprising, aromatic and entirely in the spirit of a creative encounter between bar and stage.
