This charming narrow-gauge railroad connects St. Pölten to Mariazell, winding its way through alpine scenery, dense forests, picturesque viaducts, and quaint villages—offering a nostalgic journey through the heart of the Austrian countryside.
Once in Mariazell, a visit to its iconic basilica is a must. This magnificent church—one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in Central Europe—impresses with its striking Baroque façade and the Gothic Chapel of Grace within. Every year, thousands of pilgrims and tourists are drawn to its spiritual and architectural beauty.
Just a short stroll from the basilica, you'll find yourself surrounded by charming market stalls and cozy coffeehouses. Be sure to stop by Pirker Lebzelterei, a beloved local institution.
