New stars, major promotions and rising culinary talent reinforce the Nordics' position among the world's leading gastronomic destinations.

The MICHELIN Guide Nordic Countries 2026 celebrates another milestone year for the region’s dining scene. Leading the announcements is Kadeau Copenhagen, which has been promoted to three Michelin Stars, joining the highest echelon of global gastronomy. Meanwhile, Gaptrast in Bergen and Grön in Helsinki have each advanced to two Michelin Stars, highlighting the continued momentum of Nordic fine dining.

Kadeau Reaches the Top

Under chef and founder Nicolai Nørregaard, Kadeau Copenhagen has steadily climbed the Michelin ranks since opening in 2011. The restaurant’s deep connection to Bornholm’s terroir, combined with exceptional technical precision and a distinctive culinary identity, earned it Michelin’s highest distinction this year.

Two New Two-Star Restaurants

Two restaurants were promoted from one to two Michelin Stars in 2026:

  • Gaptrast, Bergen
  • Grön, Helsinki

Both restaurants impressed inspectors with their refined techniques, strong sense of place and consistently outstanding dining experiences.

Nine New Michelin Stars

The Nordic dining scene continues to evolve, with nine restaurants receiving their first Michelin Star. New additions include ESSE and Lille Mølle in Copenhagen, Boreal in Helsinki, and Credo in Oslo, among others.

Awards and New Initiatives

Michelin also recognised outstanding industry talent through its Special Awards programme. Among the winners was Carl Frosterud of AIRA Stockholm, who received the Michelin Service Award.

A new initiative, Mindful Voices, was also launched to spotlight chefs and hospitality leaders driving sustainability, innovation and positive change across the industry.
