Vienna named one of the best food cities in the world
TasteAtlas has placed the Austrian capital in their Top 10 list of the best food cities in the world, thanks to its vivid food scene and ever-popular classics like Wiener Schnitzel and apple strudel.
Today, the popular TasteAtlas platform published its annual ranking of the world's best food cities. With a pleasing result for Austria: Vienna now ranks 8th out of 17,073 cities, making it a global leader in culinary delights.
The evaluation is based on over 477,000 verified ratings for more than 15,000 regional dishes. Vienna scored particularly well with classics such as Wiener Schnitzel, apple strudel and Zwiebelrostbraten. According to TasteAtlas, restaurants such as Gasthaus Grünauer, Woracziczky and Figlmüller are prime examples of authentic Viennese cuisine.
With an average score of 4.77, Vienna is clearly in the top ten – in a field that is dominated by Italy: Six of the top ten places went to Italian cities. The ranking is led by Naples (5.00), followed by Milan, Bologna and Florence. In Naples, the pizza margherita, gnocchi alla Sorrentina or spaghetti alle vongole - served in restaurants such as L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele or 50 Kalò - are sure to impress.
