The Eden Valley is located in the high near the Barossa Valley and, because of its cool climate, is not only one of the most sought-after "cold climates" in the country, but also one of the most exclusive regions. It is no coincidence that Henschke's "Hill of Grace" is one of the most sought-after and sought-after cult wines in the world - outstanding, but also quite expensive. The vineyards are located much higher than in the neighbouring Barossa Valley and reach up to 500 metres above sea level. This not only results in significant temperature differences from its famous neighbour, but above all, the climate is much cooler during the harvest, thus allowing the cultivation of grape varieties for crisp, fresh white wines such as Riesling, which produces excellent results here. The soil consists of constantly changing compositions of loamy and clay sand. The location and the microclimate are decisive for the grape variety, because the international white wine and red wine varieties can bring outstanding qualities here. With about 280 mm of precipitation per year, rainfall is quite low, so the water balance of the vineyards is a problem. Since water is scarce, as it is in many wine growing areas in Australia, irrigation of the vineyards can become a problem under certain circumstances. Twenty-eight wineries are permanently located in the Eden Valley, including the long legendary Henschke Winery and - founded in 1847 - Yalumba, the oldest family-owned winery on the fifth continent anywhere. However, wineries and producers from neighbouring Barossa Valley also source grapes or wine from the Eden Valley.
