The Zurich Thai restaurant "555+" seems to be a resounding success. On the evening of our visit, the restaurant on the first floor of the "Hotel Greulich" is filled to capacity. The atmosphere is lively, the staff young, and instead of napkins there are toilet paper rolls in plastic containers on the table. With its Thai kitsch decorations, the restaurant is reminiscent of the successful Zurich summer pop-up "Soi Thai". However, thanks to professional ventilation, there are no clouds of chilli in the air when the water spinach is fried. Nevertheless, it is an authentic experience thanks to the delicious food that comes out of the kitchen. "555+" founder Dominik Fuchs knows what it should taste like, after all, he lived in Thailand for a long time himself. The menu is well thought out, which makes it difficult for us to choose. If we hadn't already had an extensive aperitif, we would probably opt for the "Journey through Koh Samui - once through the menu" menu. But we order à la carte and are extremely happy with it. We particularly enjoyed the Swiss char with fermented chilli sauce, roasted rice flour and various herbs that evening. The spiciness is definitely vivid, but not overwhelming. The two curries we order are also very convincing: a yellow vegetarian one with tofu, tomatoes and potatoes and a green one with a generous portion of prawns, Thai eggplants and betel leaves. It comes with rice à discretion for four francs per person. We are already looking forward to our next visit, because there is still so much to discover at "555+"!
