The winery is located in the middle of idyllic Ottenthal, a small wine village with extensive rolling loess hills near Kirchberg am Wagram. Johannes Maringer has been running the business since 2010 and applies the knowledge he acquired at the Klosterneuburg viticulture school to his work. He has wanted to be a winemaker since he was a child and today sees his work more as a vocation than a profession.
True to the motto "Keeping his finger on the pulse of tradition", he cultivates several vineyards that were already worked by his great-great-grandparents. Johannes Maringer's signature is particularly evident in the winemaking process - from the harvest to the bottle - as the individual processes are traditionally carried out by him personally and with a great deal of passion, combined with the extensive wine-making experience of his uncle Willibald Maringer. Resource-conserving and ecologically sustainable viticulture in harmony with the climate, soil and grape varieties requires a great deal of manual work and commitment throughout the year. Since the 2024 harvest, the vineyards have also all been certified organic. In order to bring the maximum quality of the vintage into the bottle, the grapes are selected by hand during the harvest and pressed using the most gentle technology.
Johannes is also passionate about maintaining intensive personal contact with his customers, but networking with innovative professionals, wine lovers and connoisseurs throughout Austria is also a central element in order to constantly improve towards the top through their suggestions and constructive criticism.
The enjoyment of satisfied customers is ultimately the highest reward for his tireless work, which he and his team round off with a dash of art and culture in the Kellergasse in the form of vernissages, happenings and events.
