The Neff winery is located in the center of Podersdorf on the eastern shore of Lake Neusiedl, which produces excellent wines in the unique microclimate of the Pannonian lowlands. The aim is to recognize the special features of the terroir and bring them into the bottle in the wine cellar.
The winery was founded in 1960 and the name came about because the uncle of the old winemaker introduced the boy to his comrades with the words: "This is my nephew(e)!", and he spared himself the "e" at the end. The name of the winery was born. The boy was Christopher Perepatics, a graduate of the viticulture school in Eisenstadt, who gained his experience at renowned wineries in northern Burgenland before taking over the family winery from his uncle. The name of the winery could not have been more appropriate. He continues the traditional family business and the focus of vinification is on slender, fruity white wines, full-bodied red wines and, in special years, varietal sweet wines that reflect the climatic advantages of the Neusiedlersee DAC wine-growing region.
60 percent of the white wine varieties are Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Muskat Ottonel. The red wine varieties are divided between Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Blaufränkisch, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Since Christopher took over the entire seven-hectare vineyard in March 2019, he has been refining his masterpieces, which showcase the winemaker's craftsmanship. Only the best wine of his variety is awarded the title "Meisterstück" in the wine name.
The winery now enjoys numerous awards. The Grüner Veltliner 2019 was named the regional winner at the 2020 regional wine awards and, to top it all off, the Sankt Laurent "Meisterstück" 2017 was named best in its category at the "SALON Austria Wine". This was the first vintage that the dedicated winemaker vinified on his own and was able to win the national award straight away. Falstaff has also already recognized his "masterpieces": Sankt Laurent 2020 was Falstaff variety winner and in autumn 2025 he achieved third place in his category with his Cabernet Franc 2023.
