The Prackfol wine farm, run by the Planer family, was first mentioned in a document in 1429. The Prackfoler Hof is located in Völser Aicha, a small hamlet at the foot of the Schlern-Rosengarten massif. Belonging to the municipality of Fiè allo Sciliar, the farm is situated at an altitude of around 600 meters in a very quiet and idyllic location on a sun-drenched slope. The vineyards extend from 550 to 950 meters above sea level. The grape varieties cultivated are Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Vernatsch and Pinot Noir. During the day, high temperatures are reached on the exposed slopes, while at night it cools down noticeably due to the downdraughts from the Dolomites. These sometimes marked temperature differences in combination with the mineral soil composition (moraines, Bolzano quartz porphyry base) offer the best conditions for high-quality viticulture. The lords of Prösels Castle had already recognised the ageing potential of the vineyards; wine was already being cultivated and pressed for them at Prackfolerhof in the 17th century. This is probably no coincidence.
