Der Johannisberg (Sylvaner oder Gros Rhin), die zweitwichtigste im Wallis eingeführte weisse Rebsorte, stammt ursprünglich aus dem Rheingau in Deutschland. Er hat sich im Wallis in den leichten, schiefer- und kieshaltigen Böden ausgebreitet, die ihm eine muskulöse Fruchtigkeit mit einem Hauch von Mandeln verleihen. Die Spätlese verleiht dem Johannisberg einen tiefen Süsskomplex, ohne einer gewissen Beständigkeit Abbruch zu tun. So zählt er zu den Weinen von grosser Klasse.

Brilliant golden yellow. Nectarine, ripe honeydew melon and yellow flowers such as coltsfoot and broom on the nose. A juicy attack, with acidity and structure in balance and a fine creaminess that matches the discreet residual sweetness. Animating herbal savouriness shows on the finish.
