The red wine Südtiroler Merlot Riserva DOC, vintage 2015 from the winery Castel Sallegg has been rated in 2018 by Simon Staffler, Othmar Kiem with 90 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Merlot from the region Alto Adige in Italy.
Intense, flint ruby red with a slightly brightening rim. Compact, balsamic nose of mint and eucalyptus, slight hint of liquorice, then lots of cassis on the finish. Very juicy and grippy on the palate, expands powerfully, unfortunately finishes somewhat drying in the finish.
