The red wine La Réserve AOC Valais, vintage 2021 from the winery Chai du Baron has been rated in 2024 by Dominik Vombach und Benjamin Herzog with 91 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon from the region Valais in Switzerland.
This has a dark ruby colour. There are aromas of intense and vivid fruit, with blackberry, plum, and elderberry, as well as cassis, spicy toasty notes, subtle green bell pepper, and a hint of rhubarb. It is rather broad and expansive on the palate, with a soft structure, fine tannins, and juicy ripe acidity. There are nuances of wild berry and coffee complementing the whole. It finishes long and juicy with a noticeable grip.
