The red wine Vigna Galatrona Merlot Val d'Arno di Sopra DOC, vintage 2022 from the winery Petrolo has been rated in 2024 by Othmar Kiem, Simon Staffler with 97 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Merlot from the region Tuscany in Italy.
Rich ruby with a purple shimmer. Shows plenty of sweet dark berryish fruit on the nose, lots of blackberry and wild raspberry, plus fine tobacco and chocolate notes, some cardamom. Ripe, vivid fruit on the palate, currently still showing somewhat rough tannins, hearty and gripping yet unfortunately not at the level of previous years.
