This red PIWI grape variety is a cross between Merlot x Kozma 20-3. Vitis amurensis, Vitis rupestris, Vitis berlandieri and Vitis vinifera are contained in the genes. The crossing was made in Italy by Simone Diego Castellarin; Guido Cipriani; Gabriel Di Gaspero; Michele Morgante; Enrico Peterlunger; Raffaele Testolin was launched. The Merlot Kanthus variety was created from the same crossing.
