White grape variety

The white grape variety is a new variety between Dimyat and Riesling. Synonyms are Muscat de Varna and Muscat Varnenski. Due to the similarity of the name, it should not be confused with the Misket Vrachanski variety. The crossing took place in Bulgaria in 1971 by the breeder K. Stoev. The late-ripening vine is resistant to botrytis and winter frost. It produces white wines similar to Riesling, which are often blended with Riesling. The variety is cultivated in Bulgaria mainly in the Varna province in the east, as well as in the Ruse province in the north. In 2010, 336 hectares of vineyards were reported, but in 2016 there was no more stock (Kym Anderson statistics).
