Piculit Neri

Red grape variety

Symbolbild: shutterstock

Piculit Neri comes from the border area Italy (Gorizia)-Slovenia (Goricia), but is not a color mutation of the white Picolit grape variety that grows there. Piculit Neri was discovered again in the 1980s by Emilio Bulfon (winemaker) and brought back to life with the support of ampelographs. It is very susceptible to botrytis and produces tannic red wines with aromas of herbs, vanilla and red fruits.
