David Žefran and his team demonstrate great skill. Their source of inspiration is nature, which is impressive all around them with imposing mountains and a clear lake. Local products are refined with great sensitivity into artistic miniatures. The wine list is also impressive.
The young chef Erik Batagelj brings a breath of fresh air to Bovec. He presents his dishes in a bistro style: uncomplicated and without frippery, but exciting and with the best craftsmanship. The selection of wines by the glass is well put together, including some lesser-known vintners.
The castle-like estate overlooks hills and vineyards. The cuisine reflects a mixture of Italian and Slovenian cuisine with slight Mediterranean influences. The wine cellar is a real gem - and well stocked with 700 high-quality labels.
When you think of pizza, Italy immediately springs to mind. However, Igor Peresson's pizza can hold its own. The long-ripened dough and toppings made from fine ingredients are far from the usual. If you still fancy an alternative, order a burger or steak.
A popular, family-run inn, so you should make a reservation at the weekend. Country classics include baked trout, Štruklji or a large grill platter. More demanding guests will be delighted with the tasting menu. And there is even a pretty good pizza.
Italian restaurants outside of Italy are rarely authentic. It's different here. The pizza oven runs all day and slices of dough with good toppings are constantly coming out. The sugo for the pasta is freshly cooked, and the steaks and desserts are also delicious. Good wines.
An inn just like it used to be, with romantic stone walls, wooden beams and a courtyard surrounded by vines. The warm energy of Vera Šajna can be tasted in every dish. Fuži with truffles, Štruklji, whole fish from the oven and tender steaks are simply impossible to resist.
Modern architecture and rusticity have been skilfully combined. The kitchen works according to the same principle: the roots in the Goriška Brda and today's cooking techniques go hand in hand. Highlights include risotto and pasta made according to old recipes as well as steaks from the lava stone.
Inviting ambience with rough stone walls and conservatory. The friendly staff will advise you on the house wines, accompanied by various cheeses and cured ham. Followed by homemade gnocchi or pasta with porcini mushroom ragout; there must be room for the fig panna cotta.
The rustic inn is located in the wild and romantic natural area around the Soča. Down-to-earth dishes are on the menu. Homemade Žlikrofi with pršut and garlic to start, followed by pork loin with gorgonzola. The Štruklji, like the pizza, comes from the wood-fired oven.
A casual restaurant with an urban menu. The black pizza is a speciality: the dough is dyed with squid ink and topped with sea bass as an original topping. Other specialities include rabbit liver, lamb shoulder with purple potatoes and octopus goulash.
Italian cuisine just like your grandmother's - that's what Roberto Monas serves. No matter which classics he serves, you immediately get that holiday feeling. The vitello tonnato tastes authentic, pasta is available in cacio e pepe, carbonara and arrabiata varieties. Good steaks!
