The bistro has one of the highest-profile vegan-vegetarian offerings in the city, be it savoury sandwiches, shakshuka or vegetable quiche. We recommend the reasonably priced lunch menu with a few daily specials such as polenta slices with tomato mozzarella and parsley pesto.
An institution on Weißekreuzplatz. Students sit here in the mornings for breakfast and lattes, and at lunchtime for stews and toasted sandwiches. In the evening, tarte flambée leaves the kitchen while the beer flows steadily from the tap. Another favourite: Tannenzäpfle from Baden.
Many vegan ready meals are prepared in Liners. The "Long Vish Liner" is reminiscent of a fish roll. The currywurst, served in a thick, spicy sauce, is of snack quality, apart from the fibrous chewiness of the sausage. The burgers are also good. Nice flair.
The Hiller has been around since 1955 and claims to be the oldest vegetarian restaurant in Germany. The restaurant has now even switched to purely vegan cuisine and offers lunch buffets as well as à la carte dishes and the occasional brunch.
There was a change of ownership in 2025, but the concept remains the same: fresh, vegan and Asian-influenced cuisine with a quirky flair. There are summer rolls or phở. The lunch specials with a drink, soup and bowl, for example with seasonal mushrooms or grilled tofu, are popular.
