Carmelo Surace started out more than 20 years ago with an Italian delicatessen and ice cream parlour. Today, it is impossible to imagine Linz without the Calabrian-born chef and his team, who bring the Italian way of life to the steel city. Pizza, pasta and fresh fish are his specialities.
Southern Italians watch out, a pizzaiolo named Carmine de Michele is in the town square, making you cry tears of joy. The delicious arancini (fried rice balls) alone taste like something from a stall in Sicily. And then there's the pizza with its slow-fermented dough! A dream!
Ay, caramba! This awakens holiday feelings. The tortilla chips crunch perfectly, accompanied by spicy salsa and an always good guacamole. You could snack on it forever, but then things get really serious with the "Smash CowBoy Burger": juicy meat, texture cheddar and crispy bacon. And all of it double!.
The tube is an absolute eye-catcher. But it's also worth going inside, inspecting the menu and feasting. There is plenty on offer for children in particular. But adults also get their money's worth. The Sunday brunch with savoury shakshuka is a real treat.
