"Warm Dishes" Wine Bars in Styria

There is no need to go through the names of the surrounding vineyards. Christian Zach has them all. And he has something against "label drinkers": namely wines that no one has on their radar (yet). Just let the experts do it. This also applies to Fuchs' cuisine!

The historic building in the heart of the city also houses a wine cellar dating back to the 16th century, so it is only logical that around 150 fine wines are served here - and a few hundred more from the Kehlberghof on request. Plus excellent delicacies.

The restaurant is called Weinkuchl, and a winegrower's trailer is parked by the pool. It stands to reason that the bar is also well stocked with regional grape juice. And it's not just hotel guests who are impressed by the offering: "walk-ins" can also enjoy Southern Styria to take away at farm-gate prices.

Before (or after) you plunge into southern Styria, the "Genussregal" offers a cross-section of all its liquid and solid delights. In addition to Muskateller, Sauvignon Blanc etc., the bistro also offers Vulcano ham, cheese and countless other delicacies.

The south-facing terrace at the Karmeliterkapelle chapel merges almost seamlessly into the vineyard. "Kapelle" is a new Sauvignon variety from the Tement winegrowing family - and the magnum collection, which is served with classic Styrian fare, also comes from them. Ideal for celebrating!

Hotspot between Stadtpark and the city centre: not only is excellent cuisine served here, the cellar is also well stocked with - primarily Styrian - wines. Other very good reasons to visit: regular events, tastings and the wonderful pub garden.

In the middle of Graz's pedestrian zone, this pretty little restaurant invites you to take a break from shopping and strolling in the late afternoon. After work and sundowners can be enjoyed - preferably in the garden outside the door - with fine "crafted drinks" and good wines from the wine list.

The location of this stylish little restaurant with its beautiful garden promises nothing but good things, as it brings together the best from the neighbourhood. The wines from Styrian winegrowers are accompanied by delicious tarte flambée and equally tasty delicacies.

For Maurizio, indulgence is also a family affair: the coffee comes from his uncle and his Italian mother helps to source the best produce from her homeland. Delicacies pile up, from solid (cheese, prosciutto, antipasti etc.) to liquid (grappa, vino etc.).

Instead of snowboarding and skiing, Manuel and Anna Veith have been devoting themselves to their lovely boutique hotel in Schladming's mountain paradise for several years now. In the stylish and cosy wine bar, they focus on a fine selection of natural wines and bar food made from regional ingredients in tapas format.

Around 400 variations of everything that can be made from grapes around the world can be purchased here. Thanks to the large selection by the glass, you can even try some of them. The antipasti accompaniment tastes just as good as the strong espresso roasted in-house to finish.

In the mixture of pub, grocery store and wine shop, everything revolves around good things from Styria. Around 100 wines are waiting to be tasted on the shelves, along with delicacies from the kitchen and bakery. And at the end, you can fill your own larder.

Wir fragen euch also vorab: „Wie viel Hunger habt ihr?“ Und: „Wovor graust euch bzw. wovor glaubt euer Arzt, dass euch grausen sollte?“ Unser Restaurant kommt gänzlich ohne Speisekarte aus, weil ohnedies unsere Lieferanten und die Natur vorgeben, welche Zutaten täglich frisch den Weg in die Weinbank-Küche finden. Und dann kochen wir einfach. That’s it. Dass wir dabei das Beste aus den Dingen machen, die uns der Garten, die Landwirt, Viehzüchter, Jäger und Sammler bringen, das müsst ihr uns halt einfach glauben. Schmecken werdet ihr es sowieso. Mit Weinen halten wir das recht ähnlich. Wir empfehlen eine Weinbegleitung, von der wir überzeugt sind, dass die Idee des jeweiligen Gerichts mit der Idee des ausgesuchten Weins bestens harmoniert. Unsere Erfahrung hat uns gelehrt, dass unsere Gäste die Weinbegleitung „Zach’s Choice“ mögen und deshalb servieren wir diese automatisch. Eine Weinbegleitung, in der ungewöhnlichere, fordernde Weine ein Zuhause finden. Das spiegelt schließlich auch uns und unsere Genusswerte wider. Genuss ist für uns immer auch eine Entscheidung.
