Star Pastry Chef to Open First Patisserie Outside France

Award-winning pastry chef Cédric Grolet is opening his first overseas address at The Berkeley hotel in London.

The French chef works at Le Meurice and has his own boutique Opéra, both in Paris. Widely considered to be one of the world’s best pastry chefs, Grolet will unveil his first patisserie outside of France, at The Berkeley in Knightsbridge, London in early 2022.

"Cédric Grolet at The Berkeley will see two iconic patisserie signatures brought together for the first time – Grolet’s famous fruit creations, and his exquisite flowers," the hotel said.

The patisserie is a "pastry theatre" where Grolet’s team will create his masterpieces for all to see, and eight seats will overlook the kitchen. Customers will be able to take away, or enjoy his creations at The Berkeley Café, a new 60 seat space within the hotel

Grolet described the opening as a "monumental event for me" and said he looked forward to "mixing my two universes" for the first time.

His awards include Best Pastry Chef of the Year from Le Chef, Best Pastry Chef (Gault & Millau) and Best Pastry Chef in the World (The World’s 50 Best Restaurants).
