Autumn blues: the "Forestis" spa team has valuable tips
When the days get shorter and the sky turns gray, the "autumn blues" set in for many people. The spa team at the "Forestis" hotel in South Tyrol has some quick tips for an energy boost in these gloomy times.
At this time of year, with little sunshine and cold, wet weather in our latitudes, many people feel tired and lacking in energy. There is popular talk of the "autumn blues".
Surrounded by the imposing backdrop of the Dolomites, with plenty of light and contact with nature, the spa manager of the "Forestis" hotel, Eleonora Pellizzari, and spa coach Stefan Torggler are personally less affected by the "autumn blues". From this soothing environment, they share valuable tips on how to beat the seasonal doldrums.
Fresh air and moments "offline"
"Enjoying fresh, clear air in daylight is the key to combating tiredness and lack of energy," says Eleonora Pellizzari, "outdoor exercise and a walk, even a short one, contribute to a better sense of well-being."
The spa expert also advises taking moments "offline", away from screens and distractions. "You'll soon feel more calm and serenity," says Pellizzari. She advises switching off with a good book or listening to music.
Water is healing
"We at Forestis know about the power of water," says Pellizzari, "Drinking pure, fresh mountain spring water is invigorating, as is going to the sauna or taking regular steam baths." For centuries, cultures around the world have used the cleansing and invigorating power of heat and water. Whether Finnish sauna, Turkish hammam or Roman thermal baths, they all contribute to well-being - and not just in the fall.
Fruit and vegetables for more energy
"A healthy and balanced diet also works wonders," adds spa coach Stefan Torggler, "Fresh, regional fruit and vegetables as well as foods that provide us with the right energy should be on the menu." These can include wholegrain products, pulses and nuts. "A healthy diet works wonderfully in the fall with pumpkins, turnips, cabbages or chestnuts," says Torggeler. Sufficient water, teas and unsweetened drinks are also important.
The "Forestis" aims to be a retreat in nature, a place of physical and mental mindfulness. The combination of the four natural elements with artistic architecture has created a refuge with depth in the middle of the Dolomites.
Nature against "fall blues" at "Forestis"
Guests at "Forestis" can combat the "autumn blues" in a very pleasant way - or simply do something good for themselves. "Because a certain amount of self-love and self-care are also important for well-being," says Pellizzari.
Contact with nature, especially in an unspoiled environment like the one surrounding the hotel, has an immediate impact on well-being. The location, surrounded by forests and mountains, allows guests to connect deeply with nature and find inner peace.
Spa treatments in the spirit of nature
Nature and its healing properties also play a major role in the hotel's spa treatments. "Our tree circle ceremony is based on an ancient tradition that uses healing woods, therapeutic stones and natural frequencies from trees," says Torggeler, "The treatment, which is based on massages with woods and stones, is designed to balance the body's energies and promote a deep connection to oneself."
Exercise and massages
Exercise in nature also plays a major role in "Forestis" and contributes to more vitality even in the greyer autumn season. "We use the practice of Wyda, for example," says Torggler, "which combines movement, breathing and meditation so that the energy can flow in full resonance again."
"Whether it's a walk in the forest or a massage, the important thing is to listen to your own body, stop and allow yourself time to regenerate" - the two spa experts agree on this.
