After a two-year hiatus, Tomorrowland has returned this year with the theme ‘The Reflection of Love’, and the last of its three weekends is coming up this week.

The only thing better than a large festival? A large food fight. The last Wednesday in August marks Spain's messiest festival – La Tomatina. Billed as the world's biggest tomato fight, the unusual festival takes place at Bunyol, a small town near Valencia. At this epic tomato-throwing event, there is just one aim: to fling tonnes of tomatoes through the air until the whole town turns red. Just remember: all tomatoes must be squashed before being thrown.

The world's largest beer celebration draws over six million visitors annually over its three-week run, this German festival featuring everyone's favourite things: tasty food, great beer and fun outfits. The festival takes place at the Theresienwiese in Munich and showcases the best of Bavarian history. In 2019 alone, 7.5 million litres of beer was poured and drunk during the festival.
