The mecca of the famous
Hotel La Palma will be the Oetker Collection's reimagined incarnation of the original hotel that has stood the test of time for so many years. It was home to renowned artists, poets, writers and musicians from all over the world.. After reopening, it once again becomes the center of social life on the island.
The Oetker Collection is delighted to announce that Hotel La Palma on Capri will join the group's portfolio of Masterpiece Hotels. The planned opening is scheduled for April 2022. When redesigning the 50-room and suite hotel in the vibrant center of Capri, great care was taken to reinterpret this icon from 1822 and thus pay tribute to the history of the island's first and oldest hotel. True to the mission of creating special emotional connections in special places, the Oetker Collection's first Italian Masterpiece Hotel is intended to reflect the island's unique attitude to life, known as the "Dolce Vita".
The hotel is owned by Reuben Brothers and represents the latest milestone in its European development activities. The acquisition of Reuben Brothers also includes the legendary nightclub La Taverna Anema e Core, one of the island's most popular celebrity hotspots, which is also part of the building ensemble.
Set The Scene
As with the other Masterpiece Hotels in the Oetker Collection, sincere and warm hospitality should also be the focus at Hotel La Palma. Designed for the modern traveler, the house is intended to be experienced as a timeless and elegant retreat on this mythical island. It will once again be the first house on the square in the truest sense of the word and the address to see and be seen.
During the renovation, the number of rooms in the hotel will be drastically reduced from 80 to 50 rooms - including 18 suites - all with their own balcony or terrace. Renowned architects were recruited for the interior design. Francesco Delogu from Delogu Architects, Rome, is responsible for the room interiors and lobby, while Adam Tihany and Alessia Genove from Tihany Design, New York - one of the world's leading and multi-award-winning designers in the hospitality sector - are responsible for the restaurant, pool, spa and beach club.
Located in the heart of Capri Town, just a stone's throw from the Piazzetta, the Hotel La Palma is the ideal starting point to visit the most famous sights of the islandI Giardini di Augusto, Via Krupp, La Certosa and the imposing Faraglioni. Even the "Grotta Azzurra" is within easy reach of the hotel.

A feast for the senses
Of course, "La Dolce Vita" is also reflected in the culinary delights of Hotel La Palma. And so none other than Chef Gennaro Espositowho has made a name for himself far beyond the borders of Campania with his 2-Michelin-starred restaurant Torre del Saracino for over 23 years, has been recruited for the gastronomic management of Gennaro's Restaurant, Bar and Terrace. Inspired by the simplicity and purism of Capri's cuisine in the 1950s, Gennaro's manifests a timeless romance of nature and culture, offering its guests unpretentious and authentic Mediterranean cuisine. Gennaro's has a contemporary design, lively and exciting. Here, formality is dispensed with and the spirit of Capri's cuisine is celebrated. The adjacent legendary nightclub La Taverna Anema e Core contributes to this exuberant atmosphere. The rooftop restaurant & bar Bianca offers a breathtaking view of Capri Village and the sea. Open late into the night, this is the place to lose yourself in time and place. In homage to the island's golden 20s, Hotel La Palma also has a brand new pool deck and bar that leaves nothing to be desired.

Historical heritage
Founded in 1822, Hotel La Palma - formerly known as Locanda Pagano - is the oldest hotel on Capri. The original owner, notary Giuseppe Pagano, created a place here for artists from all over the world, similar to the so-called "salons". In return for the accommodation, the artists offered their talents and works, the hotel became an "artists' hotel" and thus the home of an international collective that was inspired by the genius loci and family atmosphere of this special hotel. When the Hotel La Palma reopens on its 200th birthday, guests will once again experience this hospitality so typical of Italy.
Dr. Timo Gruenert, CEO of the Oetker Collection: "I can think of nothing more exciting than the prospect of opening a true masterpiece hotel in one of the most beautiful and glamorous destinations in the world, the island of Capri. It will be a tribute to La Dolce Vita and to the heritage of this legendary place - the first hotel on Capri. With the reinterpretation of the hotel icon, Hotel La Palma will once again become the center of the island's vibrant scene. As with all our Masterpiece Hotels, we are committed to conveying a sense of warmth and hospitality, closely intertwined with our family values. We want our guests to feel at home and take a sense of belonging back home with them."
Jamie Reuben from Reuben Brothers: "We are thrilled that Hotel La Palma is joining the prestigious Oetker Collection hotel portfolio, a hotel collection that has long set the highest standards for upscale hospitality. When we acquired the property, we recognized the potential to create a truly world-class hotel - a vision shared by the Oetker Collection. We have no doubt that Hotel La Palma will fit in alongside some of the most legendary hotels in the world. Oetker Collection will breathe new life into this iconic hotel."
