Journey of a lifetime from Istanbul to London

Indian firm will launch 56-day bus service that will from travel from Turkey to England.

As bus journeys go, this one certainly falls into the ‘special’ category: 56 days travelling from Istanbul to London passing through 22 countries and covering around 7,500 miles.

The ‘Bus to London By Adventures Overland’ is operated by an Indian tour company, and after departing the Turkish capital it will travel through Greece to the Bulgarian city of Sofia, where it will make its first stop. It will progress through cities including Budapest, Prague, Warsaw and Zagreb, amongst others, with the journey described “slow and leisurely” with meals, overnight stays and activities.

Once the bus hits Slovenia it will take a north east turn up to the top of Norway with activities including ‘Nordic traditions in Finland’ and ‘witnessing the Northern Lights’, before heading back down to France ahead of the short trip across the Channel into England.

The idea was first mooted around three years ago but the Covid pandemic put paid to the original plans, with the service expected to begin in August. With almost two months’ worth of accommodation as well as 56 days in transit the journey doesn’t come cheap with prices of around £20,000 (approx. €22,735) based on two people sharing a twin room. With only 30 seats available it will be on a first come first served basis.
