From Europe to Asia: new and exciting hotels are now part of "The Leading Hotels of the World". Each hotel tells its own story and embodies in its own way the diversity and quality of the independent luxury hotel industry.

From historic city hotels to quiet retreats; the new additions to "The Leading Hotels of the World", the collection of independent luxury hotels, include recently opened establishments in Europe and Asia. "Falstaff TRAVEL" presents the hotels that represent the diversity and quality of independent luxury hotels.

"Palacio de Los Ángeles", Haro, La Rioja, Spain - opening in March 2026

The "Palacio de Los Ángeles" resides in a baroque palace from the 17th century in the heart of La Rioja, Spain's most famous wine region. Contemporary interiors pick up on regional craftsmanship, while original brickwork and exposed wooden beams preserve the historic charm. Modern design elegantly accentuates the baroque façade. From Haro, the hotel is the ideal starting point for discovering the region's wine landscapes. In the immediate vicinity, villages along the Way of St. James and Romanesque and monastic sites such as San Millán de la Cogolla invite you to go on excursions.

Hotel Imperial, Kyoto, Japan - opening in March 2026

With a view over Kyoto and Mount Higashiyama, the "Hotel Imperial Kyoto" opens the doors to a deeply rooted cultural experience. In the historic Gion district, between traditional houses and teahouses, the house was built in the traditional style. Designed by Tomoyuki Sakakida, the hotel impresses with light-flooded interiors made of natural materials and more than 16,000 original decorative tiles. The 55 rooms reflect the quiet elegance and history of the region. The guest experiences are firmly anchored in Kyoto's cultural heritage: in the Shimada Koen workshop, the art of making imperial dolls is kept alive by five generations of craftsmen. The hotel's own museum displays personal treasures of Geiko and Maiko - from elaborate hair ornaments to the bright silk costumes of the Miyako Odori dance performances.

"Venezia Como", Lake Como, Italy - opening in December 2025

With 18 rooms, the boutique hotel combines urban chic with sweeping views of Lake Como. It is prominently located on the Como waterfront and Piazza Cavour in an elegant 19th century building. In the interior, historic details such as stucco ceilings and parquet floors meet velvet upholstery, locally made linen fabrics and Venetian mirrors. Como's first rooftop restaurant, the "Altariva Restaurant & Bar", is enthroned on the roof, where modern Italian cuisine meets creative mixology. A private boat service and an outdoor butler provide tailor-made cultural experiences.

Espacio Nagoya Castle, Nagoya, Japan - opening in October 2025

The "Espacio Nagoya Castle" combines historical motifs and samurai heritage with modern hospitality. Its 100 rooms reflect the history of the city, while its location on the moat of the historic "Nagoya Castle" - symbol of the 260-year heyday under the Owari Tokugawa family - provides an incomparable backdrop. Some rooms have a direct view of the castle, others open onto terraces with panoramic views over the city. Japanese produce and culinary techniques characterize the hotel's eight gastronomic concepts, including "Sushi Shunbi Nishikawa" and "SHORYU by Ukai-tei". Spa and wellness areas combine onsen baths with mosaic-decorated pools that blend tranquillity and tradition with modern comfort.
