Black Velvet

Said to have been invented to mark the death of Queen Victoria’s husband, Prince Albert, in 1861, this mixture of bitter stout and sparkling wine oozes gothic glamour.

Ingredients (12 servings)
440 ml Guinness (two cans)
1 bottle Champagne
  • Simply mix equal quantities of well-chilled Guinness (or other good stout) and Champagne (or other sparkling wine) into champagne flutes, making sure you tilt the glasses as you pour to prevent it from frothing over.
