Dobrogea – Dobrudscha

Dobrogea (Dobrudja): Of the 9,631 square miles that this south eastern Romanian region covers, more that one quarter is given over to a UNESCO wildlife reserve covering the massive Danube delta. With its short border with the Black Sea this is the hottest and driest part of the country. Red and white wines are produced here, with the best known probably being the sweet wines from the limestone-rich Murfatlar region, often made from super-ripe Chardonnay grapes.
