The winery, located in the heart of the Lugana region in Desenzano on the shores of Lake Garda, was founded by Walter Contado in 1967 with just twelve hectares of vineyards. Today, the family business has grown to 110 hectares. The focus here is on the Turbiana grape variety, an important variety for the Lugana DOC, as the Verdicchio Bianco grape variety is called here. Vinification takes place in a modern wine cellar in which the must and wine are moved by gravity alone. In addition to white and red wines, a sparkling wine is also produced.

The aim of Cà Maiol has always been to preserve the winemaking tradition of the area and to be a pioneer in innovation. This was renewed in 1996, when the company passed into the hands of the founder's sons, Walter Contato. The new generation inherits the passion for the land, the love for Lugana and the desire to constantly develop. The 110 hectares of vineyards are the prerequisite for modern wine production and for a wine with a strong local identity that is also able to convince international palates thanks to its unique texture and contemporary design.
