This small cooperative winery on the outskirts of Bolzano produces 40 percent of the entire St. Magdalener production. Cellar master Stephan Filippi and his employees and members successfully strive to produce this grand cru among South Tyrolean Vernatsch wines. The best example of this is the St. Magdalener "Huck am Bach", which is one of the best representatives of the wines from the St. Magdalena hill year after year. But the people of Magdalena also have other gems in their cellar. Lagrein and Cabernet are at the top of the red wine range. "Taber" Lagrein was one of the first of the new generation of Lagrein. Its suppleness and velvety texture give it an unmistakable profile. "Mumelter" Cabernet impresses with its intense fruit. Gewürztraminer and Chardonnay, both from the Kleinstein vineyard, are also very good. Six years ago, the Magdalener Kellerei merged with the Kellerei Gries to form the Bozner Kellerei. However, the wines of the two companies continue to be managed as individual brands.
