Caroline Diel, and this cannot be emphasised often enough, is one of the great stylists on the Nahe and in German Riesling. Her Grosse Gewächse wines display a stylistic sovereignty, mineral vigour and delicately emphasised complexity that point far into the future, as with the Dorsheimer Burgberg, a milestone of the vintage. The "Erste Gewächse" are by no means by-products, quite the opposite: they precisely reflect the terroir of the vineyards. Finally, the Riesling Kabinett is a masterpiece that leaves us in raptures. Delicate!
