Falstaff Wine Guide Germany 2026

The Schmitzer family can trace their wine growing tradition back over 500 years. They have been cultivating their 40 hectares of vineyards in Eschbach's Herrenäckern - hence the name "Herrenhof" - since 1957. Today, Sonja and Stefan Schmitzer run the business, which has been Demeter-certified since the 2021 harvest. They don't want to reinvent the wheel, but rather produce "classic wines from traditional grape varieties". We appreciate the aromatic, harmonious style of the wines - and the measured prices. A good debut in this guide that makes us curious about next year.
