The red wine Royal City, vintage 2012 from the winery Charles Smith Wines has been rated in 2017 by Sautter, Ulrich with 94 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Syrah from the region Washington in United States.
Ripe in colour, dried fig but also an ethereal Syrah spiciness with raisin notes. Emphatically viscous on the palate, it has a creamy richness with mild tannins, a seamlessly integrated acidity and plenty of juiciness on the finish despite the creamy mid-palate. A bold, full-bodied wine that nonetheless maintains a good balance. On the finish aromatically it is not unlike a Côte-Rôtie.
