Tasting Notes
With a wine that is almost seventy years old, there must be some luck in the bottle - as in this case. Medium, delicately browned carmine garnet, subtle ochre rim, somewhat cloudy. Delicate tobacco and herbal nuances of dried fruit, but also sweet cherry confit, candied orange zest, a hint of suede and nougat. Surprisingly compact on the palate for an antique, juicy and pronounced in fruit, still carried by a firm tannin backbone. Of course, it has long passed its zenith, but still impresses with its persistence and fruity aftertaste. (98 PP).
